Monthly Recap

MONTHLY RECAP | September 2014

September 30, 2014 Comments : 4

september

I can’t believe September is over. I don’t want it to be because that means it’s closer to the end of the year. Eeeeek.

Here are things that happened in September:

  • Autumn is hereeeeeee.
  • A year ago on September 9th, I decided to go self-hosted. And this year, I renewed my hosting! So another year of blogging! Yayyyyyy.
  • I MET JANDY NELSON! Well, again. But this time I actually read her book before meeting her.She is the sweetest!
  • I’m making exceptional progress (design-wise) with my top-secret project. I said I would have it opened in October, but it really isn’t ready. Not for another few months, which is extremely regretful.

ON THE BLOG

I wanted to get 14 posts this month (to match the previous months), but unfortunately, I’ve been sidetrack with job hunting and the top-secret project, so only 11.

  • I reviewed
    • Jackaby by William Ritter, which is a great detective book investigating the awesome supernatural.
    • Landline by Rainbow Rowell, which was absolutely disappointing. Not my favorite.
    • Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer, which enraged me because of that cheap twist toward the end and the lack of emotional depth.
  • I talked about —
    • how I tend to change my book rating a few months later when the dust has settled.
    • the different book covers with shoes on it. I want to own those shoes.
    • the different book covers (both US and internationally) of The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson. I noticed the sky is a common theme.
    • the cover change for This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales. I never realized it had “LOVE” on the hardcover.
  • I recapped Jandy Nelson’s book launch for her fabulous sophomore novel, I’ll Give You The Sun. It was a fabulous event. Also, I’m giving away signed copies of her two books! (Only US.)
  • I wrote a letter to We Are Pirates, discussing the reasons why I need it in my life. The main three reasons are 1. Daniel Handler is awesome, 2. Arrrr, Pirates are cool, and 3. Found family trope!
  • If you missed my font posts, check them out here: {20}

DID I ACHIEVE MY SEPTEMBER READS?

I don’t remember what my goals were for September. I believe it was to read ARCs, and read them I did!

THINGS I NEED TO DO IN OCTOBER

  • Start writing and drafting work for the secret project.
  • Continue on my job hunting.

The Sky is Everywhere and I’ll Give You the Sun are so pretty! Will need to read it soon. :) I’m so happy autumn is here, but it’s still hot in where I live (damn you California lol).

I just read The Sky is Everywhere — it was just okay for me, but the writing was really nice. I’d give I’ll Give You the Sun a shot! Also, good luck on you job search!
