Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we list our top tens!
This week’s topic is “top ten book covers I’d frame as pieces of art.” I’m sure most of you already know how obsessed I am about talking and showcasing book covers. I had a pretty horrible time picking my top ten because there are sooo many books with gorgeous covers! How can I choose the top ten? IMPOSSIBLE. (There are suppose to be 12 here, but I forgot to put the other one in.)
I have to warn you though. I haven’t read most of these books, so I can’t vouch for how awesome they are. I can vouch for their pretty covers! I just love the typography and the details in each of these covers. When I look at them, I find myself sighing dreamily because they are so pretty! I just want them all on my wall!
The Diviners by Libba Bray | Tell the Wolves I’m Home by Carol Rifka Brunt | Vaclav & Lena by Haley Tanney
Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson | Wildwood by Colin Meloy | The Teleportation Accident by Ned Beauman
Juliet, Naked by Nick Hornby | Kinslayer by Jay Kristoff | To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
Vicious by V.E. Schwab | Smiley’s People by John le Carré
(From left to right by column)
What book covers would you frame on your wall as art? Do you like any of them? Why?
KINSLAYERRRRRRRR. I love those covers so much, I can’t wait for Endsinger’s cover because I know it’ll destroy me with how beautiful it is and then destroy me with what’s inside and I will become nothing and you will have to revive me (or try to steal my soul).
Gahhh Tell the Wolves I’m Home is why I love illustrated covers. THAT TYPOGRAPHY TOO. I wish I could design a cover as awesome as that.
The intricateness of Wildwood’s cover is just STUNNING. Soooo envious of illustrators, I can’t at their talent.
I will always love To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before for the sharpie title and the POC model. For those two alone I would read the book.
Oh man The Diviners. The cover doesn’t really wow me but the design under the book jacket is STUNNING.
I’ve only read Vicious but I can 100% couch for its amazingness. I LURVE IT. I really should post my review soon. I love that it delves into right and wrong, and good and evil, and hero and villain. I think you would love it, Ceelem <3
But wow these covers are gorgeous and for some reason I can totally see your walls being covers in huge black frames filled with book coves and quotes in pretty fonts. it would be so representative of you.
My top three favourites out of these would have to be Vicious (I just love the colours and the font and the JACKET), Vaclva & Lena (I mean look at that & symbol: tis gorgeous and I have a thing for purple + blue and those hues are simply perfect together), and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (I love the handwritten look of the title, and I think the picture fo the girl on her bed is tres cute).
I love, love, love the cover for Tell the Wolves I’m Home. It’s one of my favorites(especially after reading the book, which is equally as beautiful). And Vicious! I know so many people love the UK cover for Vicious, but I think the US one nails it. There’s something so timeless and super-villian-y about it!
I love cover art like Wild wood <3 Kingslayer & The diviners are great covers too. When it comes to contemporary covers, I really like To all the boys I've loved before too :)
I haven’t actually read any of the books you featured on your list, however I can still appreciate the beauty that is cover art – although, I think often you have to have read a book to truly appreciate the cover art seen as it typically incorporates the written word. Anywho, Wildwood is my favourite cover featured but you do have some great picks. And loving that you actually ‘framed’ them.
:-)
Those are absolutely gorgeous! Seconding The Diviners like woah, I love the details and New York in the background. Some of them I’ve never heard of before but I must definitely check them out, especially Vaclav and Lena because damn that paper art!
Excellent choices, I completely agree with you for Since You’ve Been Gone and TO All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, they’re on my list too. Never even heard of the Nick Hornby book, but I am definitely tempted to buy with a cover like that. I love this weeks theme, it’s feeding my love for pretty books, it really is
You’ve got a lot of great fonts on here! I think my favorite of the grouping is definitely The Teleportation Accident – I feel like that would be really nicely framed in a kitchen or dining room because of the shocking red!
Tell the Wolves I’m Home is actually gorgeous! And To All The Boys! This has actually inspired me to do some print-outs of book covers I like and stick them on my wall!
Goodness gracious these are all so PURTY. I bought Tell the Wolves I’m Home just for the sake of the pretty cover. I didn’t end up liking it too much, but at least it looks nice on my shelf ;) Also, THE DIVINERS. I need to read this because Libba Bray is awesome and I loved the Gemma Doyle trilogy so, so much!
Why am I not surprised that like, 90% of the covers you’ve chosen feature beautiful typography? I’d be disappointed if they didn’t, to be honest! ;)
I love teh cover for Teleportation Accident! Totally Retro and would be so perfect in my house!!!
yesss to SYBG! came so close to it! I love the cover for Valcav & Lena! just add an “E” in front of Lena and it would be perf. :)
