FROM PANEL TO PANEL • March 2018 Graphic Novel Releases To Look Out For

March 27, 2018 Comments : 2

from panel to panel

I love comics and graphic novels, so what do I do with that love? Well, I turn it into a new feature!

From Panel to Panel is a new feature where I talk about the awesome (and perhaps not-so awesome) comic books and graphic novels I’ve read. Basically, this will be me pushing them onto your laps. You’re welcome.

I can’t even describe March’s graphic novels because they’re stories of women throughout history, a librarian working at a haunted museum, charming romances, unlikely team-ups, and many more. This month, you need to put these on your TBR list.

Get your shopping carts loaded with all these comics!

MARCH 2018

  • Brazen: Rebel Ladies Who Rocked the World

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo

I love any books that talks about women throughout history. I always find women I’ve never heard about, and I’m forever grateful to learn about them because we really need to know what they did and accomplished! With Brazen, you get comics about these women. I love that!

  • Super Sons (Rebirth) • Vol. 2: Planet of the Capes

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Superboy and Damian Wayne are back at it again, teaming up and arguing about what they can do for each other! Teen Titans plays a heavy role in this, and I love seeing Damian’s interactions with his team and Superboy.

  • Archival Quality

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Spoooooky. A librarians goes to work at the haunted Logan Museum as an archivist and finds herself dreaming of a young woman who’s haunting her dreams! Oh my! I’ve started reading this, and this is an amazing piece of work. I’m easily spooked, so I should stop reading this at night time. ;D

  • Batgirl: Stephanie Brown Vol. 2

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

I love all Batgirls! I may love Babs a little more, but any chance I get to read about Cassandra Cain or Stephanie Brown, the comic needs to be in my hand pronto.

  • DC Comics: The Art of Darwyn Cooke

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo

I love Darwyn Cooke’s art, and any chance I get to look at his work is pure bliss.

  • Giant Days • Vol. 7

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Even more Giant Days! These girls—Esther, Susan, and Daisy—never fail to make me laugh. All their shenanigans and craziness speak to me on a level I didn’t know even existed.

  • Moonstruck • Vol. 1: Magic to Brew

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Please read my review of the first issue because I fell immediately in love with this cuteness of a comic! I quote, “You know what’s wonderful about Moonstruck? Everything. The writing, the art, the characters, the queerness. It’s a shining beacon of delightfulness.”

  • Batgirl (Rebirth) • Vol. 3: Summer of Lies

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

My girl Babs!!!! And my boy Dick!!!!!! ALL THE HAPPY SCREAMS!!! My favorite duo reunited in this volume! YESSSSSSS!!!

  • DC Comics: Bombshells • Vol. 6: War Stories

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Bombshells for life!!! These ladies have my heart, and every time a new volume comes out, I scream at people at the top of my lungs on the highest cliff!!

  • Gasolina • Vol. 1: Bienvenido

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

A modern day Bonnie and Clyde who “become unlikely leaders in the fight against a new cartel.” Damn, I’m into that.

  • Lumberjanes: Bonus Tracks

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Lumberjanes short stories! Even more Lumberjanes! There are stories by these awesome ladies: Faith Erin Hicks, Rosemary Valero-O’Connell, Jen Wang, Christine Norrie, Kelly Thompson, and Holly Black.

  • The Paybacks • Vol. 1: Payback’s A Bitch

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

OH MAN. The Suphero behind the scenes! Not all superheroes can finance their suits or their crime-fighing supercomputers; they have a debt to repay. There’s a new team—a repo team of bankrupt former superheroes who are “here to foreclose on everybody’s secret lairs.” Now that I want to read.

(This may have came out a couple of years ago. Ooop.)

  • The Realm • Vol. 1

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Post-apocalyptic wasteland + mythical creatures of orcs and dragons. Very The Walking dead meets Dungeons and Dragons and Lord of the Rings.

SPECIAL MENTIONS: Constantine: The Hellblazer (Rebirth) • Vol. 3: The Inspiration Game, Daredevil By Waid & Samnee Omnibus HC Vol. 2, Flash (Rebirth) • Vol. 5: Negative, Bad Machinery Pocket Edition Vol. 4 Case Lonely One, Copperhead • Vol. 4

Do any of these comics interest you? Tell me which ones you’re excited about! Have you read any of these?
