TOP TEN TUESDAY | Words/Topics That Will Make Me NOT pick up a book

July 23, 2013 Comments : 10

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we list our top tens! This week’s topic is “top ten words/topics that will make me NOT pick up a book.” Trying to come up with ten words/topics was hard at first, but once more words/topics popped into my head, it became harder to limit it. I didn’t realize how many words/topics I don’t like reading about in a book (or as I like to call it – ‘books that give me major turtle face’). There are a lot of words that can go on the list, but these twelve will suffice. I find that they are rarely written in a way that doesn’t use tired clichés, and I get extremely angry/frustrated/weary when I come across these words/topics. That’s not good.

What words/topics are on your list? Link me up!

Zombies are BAD. So are aliens. Ditto for sport. Yay for us :D

Wow what a great list! I agree with pretty much all of these. I think sci-fi is a very tricky genre, but when it’s done right it’s OH SO GOOD. Firefly being a prime example.

(also on a completely unrelated note: I am in love with your graphics, so gooood!!)

I think that sci-fi is so much better when you’re watching it because it doesn’t seem very foreign, whereas reading it, I can’t imagine the world, but like you said, when it’s done right, it’s awesome.

Aww, thank you! As someone who isn’t quite skilled at making graphics (at least, I think I’m not skilled), I’m extremely giddy by your praise. :D

Re: your comment on Firefly. Why do you like it? I’ve only watched the first 20 minutes (my wifi went out). I want to finish the episode mostly because so many people are obsessed with the show. What’s so great about it?

I’m not really a fan of pregnancy or sports either! I am hopelessly unathletic, ha.

I cannot agree with you more about vampires, love at first site/instalove, forbidden, soulmates, sports, and revenge. Sooooo basically all of them. Great list!

I can’t stand books about sports either. They bore me to death and I get bored while reading it.
Love at first sight might as well be insta-love. :P
    Awesome list Cee! :D<3

I really like your list!! I am so mad I didn’t think of pregnancy! It’s seriously one of my instant put down topics and I forgot it!! But yeah I don’t like reading about teen pregnancy or insta-love/fate…. BLAH!!! I don’t like romance between people and mythical creatures such as vampires, werewolves, angels. fairies, mermaids… gross. And Forbidden is a way overused word and always makes me think of incest, which is another topic I wont read about!!

Thanks for stopping by My TTT
