Holy Mother Cover

HOLY, MOTHER COVER! | Snow Theme!

December 24, 2014 Comments : 5

Inspired by What She Reads, Pure Imagination Blog, and Stacked.

I admit I’m a book cover snob. Who isn’t though?

Book covers are the first thing that attracts readers to a book. A good cover can draw someone is, just as a bad cover can easily draw someone away. It can essentially make or break a book. Holy, Mother Cover! is where I showcase the book covers that stand out (or make me cringe) and discuss cover changes.

(A big special thanks to Georgie at What She Reads for bestowing me this fabulous name and to Charlotte at The Simple Tales for creating the beautiful feature banner you see before you.)

IT’S ALMOST CHRISTMAS, DUDES! *flails arms*

And you know what I want to do? Show off my favorite snow covers! Because it’s almost Christmas. And no Christmas is complete without snow. (Well, I live on the West Coast, so there’s never snow. Whoops.)

THEME: Snow!

What do I like about each cover?

  • In My True Love Gave To Me, I love everything about it. The gorgeous illustration and the typography that I am drooling over. It’s just the best.
  • In After the Snow, I like that it’s like you’re looking up to the sky. It makes the bare tree branches even more ominous and creepy.
  • In The Snow Child, the minimalistic images create such a timeless look. There’s something really magical about it.
  • In The Tragedy Paper, I love snow falling down because it looks a bit like the camera suffered from lens flare. It’s a cool effect. Plus, it’s quite ominous that the model is running away in the snow.
  • In Winterkill, I love that the wood fences create the title. It’s a really creative way of displaying it. And, I like that the fence posts are sharp like it’s a stake.
  • In Marcelo and the Real World, I love the silhouettes, and the detail in the tree and the treehouse. It makes me feel all cozy.

Best snow cover? My True Love Gave To Me!

Which book cover has the best snow on it? Can you think of any other books with this theme? Also, merry holidays, guys! I hope you have a fabulous one!

I loved the cover of WinterKill enough to buy it!

And I really like the cover for The Tragedy Paper. It just draws me in because I wonder why he’s running through the snow dressed like that.

I LOVE ALL OF THESE. I looove snow and winters so that must be why.

I think my favorite is Marcelo and the Real World because of how cozy it looks. The Tragedy Paper is so beautiful and sad and The Snow Child is the prettiest.

I hate snow but I like these covers. I loved My True Love Gave to Me and I agree that it has a fantastic cover. Another snow themed book cover that I like is How to Save a Life by Sara Zarr.
