December 11, 2015 Comments : 15

2015yacoverchoiceawards
The YA Book Cover Choice Awards (aka YABCCAwards) aim to honor all the wonderful (and not-so wonderful) book covers that were published in the past year. It will be nominated and voted by readers (à la Goodreads Choice Awards and the *Book Shimmy* Awards) for the best cover design in each categories.
Over 250 people voted, and you guys, I’m very emotional about it because it has really grown from last year. (Triple the amount of people last year!) I owe each and every one of you a huge thank you and hugs with lots of confetti, dancing, and delicious sweets! <3

A month ago, the 2015 YA Book Cover Choice Awards kicked off with lots of cheers and support. I was hoping people will get pumped up because book covers maketh a book (sometimes), and you guys did not fail to express your excitement. You really showed the love and appreciation for book covers in this Cover Awards, and I am so grateful for the enthusiasm. I cannot stress enough how much it means to me to see all the votes, the sharing, and the excitement. It keeps me excited to do more of this! (Not that I was gonna stop. ;D) There’s so much we can do.

I won’t talk your ear off because we have covers to award!

Let’s see who came out as victor for each category! Expect delight, disappointment, and all the emotions with seeing your favorites win or lose.

What You Need To Know

  • When you click on the category links below, it’ll take you directly to the category.

FEEDBACK SURVEY

This year’s YA Book Cover Choice Awards may have ended for now, but I want to hear your feedback and suggestions of how I can do it better next year! Please fill this survey out. I would be so thankful! (And good cheers will arrive on your door if you do. ;))) )

The only questions that are required are the yes or no ones (with the asterisk at the end). For the first Y/N question, I’m genuinely curious to know if people actually click on the links in the Google form poll. If people don’t, I’m gonna stop including them.

Thank you so much! <3

I’m so happy that The Lunar Chronicles’s covers won by a landslide and that A Madness So Discreet won twice! And yay for Illuminae and Six of Crows winning but I’m sad that the UK cover of The Rest of Us Just Live Here didn’t. Oh, well.

Thank you so much for doing this, Cee! You rock. =D

I had so much fun voting! These are the ones I voted for that won:
    Best Typography: A Thousand Nights
Best Minimalist: Red Queen (I almost voted for Naked, but was just so conflicted. Minimalist covers are my favorite.)
Best Group: The Rest of Just Live Here
Best Spine Design: Six of Crows (Most beautiful I think I currently own.)
Best Interior Design: Illuminae (There were so many beautiful features in this novel.)
    Best Series Cover: Lunar Chronicles
    Best Overall: Six of Crows
That was so much fun! Thanks for hosting and putting together this awesome event!♥

Woah I feel like these were all really spot on to what I would have picked! So yay! I’m sad that I didn’t know about this until now (no idea why???), but glad it went SUPER WELL. I also have never seen some of these before, like Crow Moon! I really like how when you clicked on the cover, the stats would come up. You clearly spent A LOT of time on this! And look how well everything turned out!!

I must say, a LOT of these were my choices, YAY! Maybe about half? That isn’t bad. There are only a couple that I know I didn’t vote on the winner and REALLY wanted a different book to win/don’t like the winning choice. (The Extraordinary Means cover freaks me out, honestly. And I don’t really know what Crow Moon is so… yeah.) But this was seriously so much fun, and you did such an amazing job putting it all together! I am so impressed, and look forward to next year’s :D

Yay, some of the covers I voted for won :D I think my favorite cover from this year would be A Thousand Nights. The art and typography on that cover is so beautiful! Bummer though that Air Awakens didn’t win best illustrated.

Really sad that “Made you up” won twice, I really dislike this cover. But The Heir won best dress and that’s great ! Also great awards, it was really fun :)
