Waiting On is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Rachel Hawkins - Rebel BelleRebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

Pre-order: Amazon | Barnes & Noble |  The Book Depository

Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper’s destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can’t get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she’s charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper’s least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him–and discovers that David’s own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y’all beg for more.

Why I’m waiting?

Ahhh, Rachel Hawkins is a favorite author of mine. I credit her for pulling me back into YA. So obviously I will be super pumped for any book she writes!

Plus, I’m excited to read about this world. An ancient line of guardians? That sounds so cool! I need to learn more about that! I am so prepared for the banter between Harper and David (if it’s anything like the bantering in Hex Hall). Also, I I love that David’s a school reporter. There will surely be some snooping and learning about this prophecy and whatnot.

Basically, I need Rebel Belle.

What books are you waiting on?

The Merciless! I’m so excited for that release. I love psychological horror, especially when it’s YA.

I’m waiting for this too! Sound hilarious, really, and if it’s anything like the first two Hex Hall books (in tone, humour, action, etc) then I’m going to really enjoy it.
