Monthly Recap

MONTHLY RECAP | July 2013

August 1, 2013 Comments : 5

July is over. Rather strange to me, tbh.

What happened this past July?

ontheblog

  • We said farewell to Google Reader. And we said happy birthday to America.
  • I wrote only two reviews this month, which is such a shame. (I blame it on my reading/writing slump.)
    • The Assassin and the Desert by Sarah J. Maas
    • Truth or Dare by Jacqueline Green
  • I started two new corners on my blog –
    • “Judg(ing) A Book By Its Cover:” In my first post, I talk about the cover changes of Level 2 (aka The Memory of After)!
    • “The Three C’s: Candid Conversations with Cee:” I talk about the reading and writing funk, as I call but others may call it a slump.
  • I wait on these books:
    • The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
    • The 100 by Kass Morgan
    • More than This by Patrick Ness
    • Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick
    • Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke
  • I participated in Top Ten:
    • Most Intimidating Books
    • Best Book-to-Movie Adaptations
    • Words/Topics That Will Make Me NOT Pick Up A Book
  • I hosted my second giveaway just because. ;D

inmylife

  • I broke my laptop. Not my finest moment. I’m extremely sad that it no longer works.
  • I watched Pacific Rim. It is frickin’ amazing. I wish I can write an essay of the reasons why I love this film, but I’m pretty sure the essay would consist of aje9jopwerjeiajdfijsiodf9aweuitr9ew (incoherent sentences of me going into overdrive or me screeching). This scene was the final thing that convinced me to see this movie. (Note: the clip below is not the entirety of the fight. It’s been edited down to a minute. The one in the film is longer and so intense. It is worth going to see this movie. The tension between them, yes please.)

Also, I have the Pacific Rim soundtrack on repeat. “Cancelling the Apocalypse” and “Mako” are my favorites.

  • I am sooo sad that I finished the first season of Orange is the New Black. I need the second season! (It’s filming right now!) Crazy Eyes/Suzanne Warren is my absolute favorite. Why? Go watch the show and see! (A reason: her recitation of Shakespeare’s plays during Scared Straight nearly killed me. I was laughing so hard.) I hope that we get to delve into her past.

I hope August is a better blogging month for me. How was July for you?

I just finished Orange is the New Black! That show is addicting. I can’t wait for season two, that ending was killer. ;) It is a very humorous show, but some of the scenes were a little to over the top/gross for me, but I still really enjoyed the season.

It is! I don’t think I can wait a year for it! It seems so far in the future! But at least we know there is a season two!

I was soooo pissed at Healy for walking away! WTF! I need to know what happens to Piper and Pennsatucky.

I feel the same way. I can’t believe it’s August. What happened?! O.o

And boo to breaking your laptop! I’d be lost if that were to happen to me. Let’s not think about it…

I haven’t seen Pacific Rim, but have heard good things about it. Who knew fighting with sticks could be so intense?

Hope August is better for you, blog wise and job wise. I’m new around here but I have to say, I love your blog :)

The summer is really passing by really fast. I don’t want it to be fall yet!

You should’ve seen me when I broke it. I was such a mess, trying to google how to fix it on my phone. Lol. I’m lucky that I still have a desktop computer. Though, I’m sad I don’t have a laptop. It was easy to sit in bed with it on my lap.

Ha, you have really good taste in blogs then. ;D (Those comments always make my day brighter.)

Hope your August is a better reviewing month-it can be hard to get back in the groove after a break but hopefully you are saving up your thoughts and will come back with a vengeance this month!
