Holy Mother Cover

HOLY, MOTHER COVER! | Theme: Hearts <3!

February 12, 2015 Comments : 12

Inspired by What She Reads, Pure Imagination Blog, and Stacked.

I admit I’m a book cover snob. Who isn’t though?

Book covers are the first thing that attracts readers to a book. A good cover can draw someone is, just as a bad cover can easily draw someone away. It can essentially make or break a book. Holy, Mother Cover! is where I showcase the book covers that stand out (or make me cringe) and discuss cover changes.

(A big special thanks to Georgie at What She Reads for bestowing me this fabulous name and to Charlotte at The Simple Tales for creating the beautiful feature banner you see before you.)

Valentine’s Day is approaching, and what’s the best way to prepare for it? My answer: showcasing twelve book covers with hearts on it!

Yes, twelve covers. It’s because of two reasons: 1. it’s hard to narrow down the covers with hearts on it because these covers use the hearts so creatively (it’s all sooooo pretty) and 2. it makes a dozen! And you know what’s given on Valentine’s Day that’s a dozen? ;P (Yes, I’m weirdddd, but it’s the spirit of loveeeeee.)

Let’s see if you have hearts in your eyes because of these covers. ;D

THEME: Hearts <3!

The Rosie Project | Boy Meets Boy | A Little Something Different

Best heart cover? This is a tough one! I’m gonna cheat and pick a few. (You can’t stop me!)

I love Apple and Rain and Cold Hands, Warm Heart because it’s uses unexpected things to create a heart (an apple + fingerprints), First Comes Love because of the prickly cactus (love will prick ya), and Things We Know By Heart because of the gradual transformation of the heart (organ) into a drawn heart.

What about you? Which book cover do you think has the best hearts? Can you think of any other books with this theme?

I agree – this is definitely the BEST way to celebrate Valentine’s Day! I really love all these covers but my favourites would have to be Cold Hands, Warm Heart, The Lover’s Dictionary and Coming Clean. I also love that you included In Case of An Emergency even though it’s an actual heart and not just one of those cartoony hearts. Which leads me to wonder how the common heart we draw now came into being.. I might have to Google that because I’m really curious now!! Anyway, thanks for this compilation of covers! Will definitely make my Valentines Day 10x better

I love the cover of Twenty Boy Summer… always will. Sweethearts by Sara Zarr is on I would add… and Tagled by Carolyn Mackler oh and Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler. This theme is adorable :)

I was always fond of Paper Valentine because of the color scheme. I’m not a huge heart fan but I can dig them used correctly :-)

Oooh, I love these! I think my favourite’s probably In Case of Emergency. I love the colours and how the cover can look so chaotic and clean at the same time. I also adore Cold Hands, Warm Heart! The fingerprints are really cool, like you said. And the handwritten title looks awesome.

My favorites are probably Apple and Rain, Cold Hands, Warm Heart and Things We Know by Heart.

Things We Know by Heart is definitely my favorite of these twelve! I may also be biased because I loved the story and it made me cry happy tears <3

I've never seen The Lover's Dictionary before, but that one is pretty swoony I'll admit.

I just love all of these heart covers! I love this feature in general. This is such a great post the week of Valentine’s Day. My favorite is The Things We Know By Heart. I didn’t even notice the gradual change in the hearts in the background until you mentioned it! That’s so great.

Sometimes those hearts can get a little cliched, that’s why I love the ‘In case of an emergency’ one and ‘Apple and rain.’ I think A little something different works because of the pretty illustrations accompanied to the hearts :)

Oh wow I’ve never heard of In Case of Emergency..that cover looks WOWZA though! So different and stunning. I’ve read A Little Something Different and I think the title says it all! The cover is definitely lovely; I love it! Ever since Paper Valentine came out, I’ve been wanting to read it but now I don’t think I will.. I just lost interest in it.
