ABOUT CEE |
---|
I am Cee, one of your host for this event as well as the blog owner of The Novel Hermit. Things you need to know about me: I’m a lover of books, comic books, covers, typography, endpapers, found families, heists, tragic high society parties, lady superheroes, grumpy face Sebastian Stan, Eyebrow King Lee Pace, tacos, and plenty of other stuff I can’t remember at the moment. If you need a comic rec or need lots of cheer, I’m your gal.
- Tell us your history with reading. Were you always a reader? Were you a reluctant reader? Was there a book that convinced you to become a reader?
I wasn’t quite like Matilda, where I grew up constantly surrounded by books, but close enough. I don’t know when I became a reader (nor do I remember the book that convinced me to become a reader but maybe it was the library in Beauty and the Beast?), but like most book lovers, it started when I was little. Whenever my parents would take my sisters and I out to the mall, we would end up in a bookstore. While they shopped, my sisters and I would walk over to Walden Books or Barnes and Noble and plunk ourselves in the aisles, pouring through all the books we could get our hands on. We spent majority of our time in bookstores than in clothing stores, and I was content with that. At school, I stopped going to the cafeteria to eat my lunch; instead, my childhood best friend and I would take our lunches to the library and eat there, which continued well into middle/junior high school. Books are where I found comfort.
- How did you get involved in the online book community?
I needed an outlet to express all my thoughts and opinions of the books I read. I was a big fan of Elena’s blog Novel Sounds, and loved what she was doing with that, so I thought why not join the online book community? It looked fun, albeit intimidating because I was a newbie, and I’m glad I got involved because I’ve met many awesome people who I call my friends.
- How did you choose your primary platform (blog, Instagram, YouTube, etc)? How did you come up with your blog name?
I’m a writer, so the obvious platform for me was to start a blog.
Everybody knows coming up with a name that defines who you are and your blog is a tough thing to do. I wanted a name that would perfectly embody me, and The Novel Hermit was what I came up with. I’m a reader who loved all novels and a person who preferred to stay indoors with a good book like a hermit.
Beside reviews, you will find a lot of posts about book covers like cover changes and themes, typography showcase, letters to authors and to books, and discussions about comic books.
- What’s your favorite thing about the online book community?
My favorite things about the online book community is making friends with awesome readers and getting to interact with my favorite authors.
- What sort of posts can readers expect from you?
You can expect reviews, discussions about comic books, talk about book covers like cover changes and themes, typography showcase, letters to authors and to books, and etc.

I also grew up with a love for reading. One of my best memories is how my mother would always take us to the library on Friday. I would look forward to that day of the week, because then I could pick other worlds to explore.
I love your blog name :)
