It begins as an assignment for English class: Write a letter to a dead person.

Laurel chooses Kurt Cobain because her sister, May, loved him. And he died young, just like May did. Soon, Laurel has a notebook full of letters to people like Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Amelia Earhart, Heath Ledger, and more; though she never gives a single one of them to her teacher. She writes about starting high school, navigating new friendships, falling in love for the first time, learning to live with her splintering family. And, finally, about the abuse she suffered while May was supposed to be looking out for her. Only then, once Laurel has written down the truth about what happened to herself, can she truly begin to accept what happened to May. And only when Laurel has begun to see her sister as the person she was; lovely and amazing and deeply flawed; can she begin to discover her own path.

Why I’m waiting?

1. This book has a gorgeous cover! I’m so in love it. The colors are sooo pretty! I love how the colors shift from dark to light to show off the different times of evening. It just works really well together. I could stare it all day. You know what, I want it as a poster.

2. Letters! I’m excited to see how Laurel deals with her grief by writing to dead famous people. Writing letters can be therapeutic. I really hope I get all the ~feels when I read this.

Guess who was finally out of her YA reading slump. This girl, right here! :D February has been a pretty good month. Reading awesome books and having awesome conversations with everybody (ie. Love-A-Thon). You guys are seriously THE BEST. <3 Friendships, ftw! *throws flowers and glitter all over the place* I hope March is an even more awesome month!

XOXO: Fangirling about Romances is a feature where Kelly (at Effortlessly Reading) and I (at The Novel Hermit) discuss anything (and everything) about romance novels. It will occur twice a month and we will alternate posting it on our blogs. ~~You see this post on my blog, you’ll see the next one on KELLY’s blog.~~ You see this post (and the next one) on my blog because Kelly is actually on hiatus at the moment until late March.

We are big fans of romance novels. We don’t get to talk about it as much on our blogs because they’re very geared toward YA books, so this feature is our way of fangirling over romance novels.

Today, we are talking about The Luckiest Lady in London by Sherry Thomas, specifically about the romance between Felix and Louisa. I loved it (I’m sure I’ve shouted about it from rooftops), but Kelly, well, she didn’t hate it, so that’s good. I kept trying to convince her of Felix’s endearing-ness, but she was not having any of it. :(

More Than This is an incredibly beautiful story about a boy, Seth, who wakes up in a wasteland and learns that he is all alone (at least, he thinks he is). I won’t say anymore because you should experience the story for yourself. I will say that this book is just so frickin’ wonderful and heart-wrenching. I love everything about it. It’s one of those books that makes you think and ~feeeel. I just want to thrust this book into everybody’s face and force them to read it.

I love fonts. You can say I’m obsessed with collecting them all. It’s no secret to those who know me. You’re Just My Type is a new feature where I showcase the fonts I absolutely adore and use. And hopefully, you will love the fonts I pick.

The lovely Georgie at What She Reads (who is one of my favorite bloggers) sent me a list of fonts she absolutely adore. It made me incredibly excited to see all the fonts she wanted to share with me and with all of you. I’m pretty much in love with all the ones she sent! I hope you love them as well!

FLOWERS, GUYS! Yes, I am well aware that Floral looks like Fleur de Liane, but you can never have too many floral fonts! So let the flowers rain down on your head!

Floral makes me incredibly happy just by looking at it. I actually prefer it more than Fleur de Liane because the letters are much darker and defined. It’s just soo whimsical. I love it.
