EPIC RECS | April 2015

April 2, 2015 Comments : 3

epicrecs

* The lovely banner was created by Charlotte with the resources I bestowed onto her.
Epic Recs is hosted by the lovely Judith (Paper Riot) and Amber (Books of Amber). It is a feature where each month, you and your partner force a book onto each other, or to put it nicely, recommend one to read. My partner in crime will be the one-and-only Charlotte of The Simple Tales. Let the fun (*ahem* pain) begin!
Oh boy, well, guys. I have to make an announcement, and that is…I failed March’s Epic Reads. *hides and cries* I never read Stormdancer. I had every intention to read it, but it just didn’t happen. The main reason: I became enamored with my OUTLAW BABES project, so I was spending a lot of my time developing and writing about my characters.

(Cee: 2, Charlotte: 3. I guess Charlotte wins this round. As if there’s something to be won here. Ha.)

epic recs april

For this month’s Epic Recs, I’m recommending Charlotte White Cat by Holly Black. This is totally a Cee book that people need to be read. It has con artists/grifters, magical powers, male POV, and BROTHERS. ALL MY FAVORITE THINGS. Initially, I hadn’t thought much about the book when I first read it, but when I was talking about it with a friend, I realized that it had so many of my favorite tropes, and the relationship of the brothers, guys, wow. Such an emotional ride. I cannot wait until Charlotte reads it!

Charlotte recommended me The Year of Shadows by Claire Legrand. I adore Claire Legrand’s work. I’ve only read The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls, and when I think back on that book, I just remember it so fondly. What I’m most excited about The Year of Shadows is the Gothic-ness of it! I’m just a fan of that genre because I love that dark and creepy. And apparently, there’s family goodness? Yeeeessss. You can read her Epic Recs post about why she recommended me this book.

What do you think about our recommendations? Have you read either book? Tell me all about it!

Monthly Recap

MONTHLY RECAP | March 2015

March 31, 2015 Comments : 8

march

A lot happened in March, which is kind of weird because nothing ever happens. But it’s all good! It was a very fabulous month!

On a different note, after looking at Charlotte’s gorgeous recap for February, I felt like I needed to step up my game, and voila! I’m so in love with this layout, and I’m trying not to overuse it (WHICH IS REALLY HARD FOR ME RIGHT NOW!).

And oh boy, friends. Prepare yourself because I have A LOT to say.

Camp NaNoWriMo | All About That Inspiration!

March 30, 2015 Comments : 10

The time has come, and yes, I will be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo! For those who have no idea what Camp NaNoWriMo is, it’s like the November NaNoWriMo, but it’s set in April and June, has cabins (filled with writers you can talk to and get encouragement from), and you get to pick your own word count goal! It’s essentially more flexible than NaNoWriMo.

I hadn’t decided whether I was gonna participate until my BFF announced that she would be participating, and who am I to not join as well? I do far better when I have a partner to, essentially, compete with. And I managed to rope Charlotte into participating (bless her obsession with Pacific Rim for finally convincing her).

But enough of that intro, let’s get to my awesome project that I’m so excited about. MY OUTLAW BABES!

ESSENTIAL READING | Seven Books Simon (from vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda) Would Read and Love

March 26, 2015 Comments : 24
Do you ever wonder about what books shaped the lives of the characters you read about? What were Kami Glass from The Lynburn Legacy, Seth from More Than This, or Taylor Markham from Jellicoe Road reading? What books did they love?

In Essential Reading, readers and authors share five to seven books (children’s, YA, general fiction, romances, nonfiction, and all) that they or their characters love, or has impacted their lives or their characters’s lives.
The inaugural post of Essential Reading was a huge hit! YEEEEEEEEEEE. And I’m very happy that you all are just as excited about this series as I am.

This time, we have the amazing Becky Albertalli, sharing what books her character Simon would read and love. And guys, Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda is a book that EVERYBODY needs to read. Simon is someone you want in your life! Trust me! I feel so honored to have Becky on my blog (because she’s frickin’ amazing), so give her a warm welcome!

TOP TEN TUESDAY | Books From My Childhood/Teen Years That I Would Love To Revisit

March 24, 2015 Comments : 8
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where we list our top tens!
This week’s topic is “top ten books I read in my childhood and teen years that I would love to revisit.” Oh boy, guys. Was it just me, or did anybody else had trouble remembering what they read as a kid and as a teenager? I vaguely remember the books I read, and it totally pained me because it has been so long! I didn’t read a lot of the 90s young adult books like Judy Blume, but at least I read Alice? (Which isn’t on this list.)

Let’s see what books I want to revisit!

2015 | Spring Cleaning Giveaway Hop

March 20, 2015 Comments : 53

giveawayfestivo

Happy first day of Spring, guys!

And since Winter is officially no more and Spring is here, it’s time to do some cleaning! And cleaning for me is getting rid of books I’ve read or am not planning to read, which is good news for you! Because you get books!

That’s why I decided to partake in the Spring Cleaning Giveaway Hop, which is hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and will run from March 20-25th!

I have a box of YA books that need a new home; it needs someone who will love and cherish them. It’s a mixture of finished copies + ARCs (that you will see below), ranging from fantasy to contemporary. A lot from Scholastic. So many awesome books. Hopefully, you will enjoy these books. (Somebody has to! ;D)
