Dear Jessica Day George and Silver in the Blood,
You had me at “society girls!”
Society girls from New York City circa 1890, Dacia and Lou never desired to know more about their lineage, instead preferring to gossip about the mysterious Romanian family that they barely knew. But upon turning seventeen, the girls must return to their homeland to meet their relatives, find proper husbands, and—most terrifyingly—learn the deep family secrets of The Claw, The Wing, and The Smoke. The Florescus, after all, are shape-shifters, and it is time for Dacia and Lou to fulfill the prophecy that demands their acceptance of this fate . . . or fight against this cruel inheritance with all their might. With a gorgeous Romanian setting, stunning Parisian gowns, and dark brooding young men, readers will be swept up by this epic adventure of two girls in a battle for their lives.
When I read the synopsis of this book, I could not contain my glee. I’m so pumped to read this because:
- You say “society girls,” and I come a-running. I’m such a sucker when it comes to books about society girls. I find their lives so fascinating because it’s so far removed from my own. They’re so glamorous, and who wouldn’t want to experience their lives for a few moments?
- Their family secrets is a juicy one. Family history plays a part in this secret, and I am totally on board! The Claw, The Wing, and the Smoke? The Florescus? Ummm, what are those? Are those secret society names? I’m assuming that it deals with what their family can shape shift into? Or?
- There are shapeshifters! A FAMILY OF SHAPESHIFTERS. HOLY SHIT. LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You have society girls AND shapeshifters? CAN YOU SEE THE HEARTS IN MY EYES? SHAPESHIFTERS, DUDES!
- These girls are Romanian. Yessssssssss. I don’t think I’ve read a lot of books about Romanian people, so I hope it explores this culture and just everything. (I need it to.)
This book can either go awesomely or horribly bad. I just know I need this. Where do I sign up? Who else is excited about this book?
Sincerely,
Alexa S. says
I just really love the cover for Silver in the Blood! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read it initially, but my curiosity is pretty piqued by the summary ;)
