TOO MUCH TBR • September 2022

September 6, 2022 Leave a Comment

For those who do not know, Too Much TBR is a way to help me see which books I really need to read and tackle them. Is it effective? Perhaps. It helps a lot seeing a visual of the books on my TBR pile.

Let’s get down to it.

BACK IN AUGUST

In August, I didn’t actually finish any of the books that were priority for September, BUT I did finish two fantastic novellas—REVIEW • The Vine Cutting Heist at Chateau l’etrange (The Suitcase Clone by Robin Sloan) and Comfort Me With Apples by Catherynne M. Valence (be on the lookout for a review soon!)

I’m still slowly making my way through Babel, which has been fantastic so far.

PRIORITY SEPTEMBER READS

  • Babel: “Babel — a thematic response to The Secret History and a tonal response to Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell — grapples with student revolutions, colonial resistance, and the use of translation as a tool of empire.” Dark academia with an Asian main character. Ready for this. (Just need to finish this.)
SEPTEMBER BOOKS I WANT TO READ

Nona the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir | The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas | Self-Made Boys (A Great Gatsby Remix) by Anna-Marie McLemore | The Genesis of Misery by Neon Yang | The Gathering Dark: An Anthology of Folk Horror edited by Tori Bovalino

Last of the Talons by Sophie Kim | Bindle Punk Bruja by Desideria Mesa | Demon in the Wood by Leigh Bardugo & Dani Pendergast | Where We End & Begin by Jane Igharo | I’m the Girl by Courtney Summers

Stone Blind: A Medusa Story by Natalie Haynes | Motherthing by Ainslie Hogarth | The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling | Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong | Shades of Rust and Ruin by A.G. Howard

Note: All these books here do not account for other books that may slip into my TBR list (because mood reading will probably happen) nor of the comics I will be reading. I’m sure I missed other books I want to read this month too, but since I can’t remember, it must not be priority, right? Let’s hope I make a dent in my TBR books for June!

How was your August? Tell me what’s on your September TBR list. Have you read any of the books on my lists? Or are you planning to read them?
