Did you hear the awesome news?
[quote cite=”Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler)” url=”http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/netflix-adapting-lemony-snickets-a-746666″]After years of providing top-quality entertainment on demand, Netflix is risking its reputation and its success by associating itself with my dismaying and upsetting books. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. OR A DRILL. IT’S HAPPENING. THE ADAPTATION OF THIS SERIES IS HAPPENING. AND I AM BOUNCING AROUND AND SHAKING. I CANNOT CONTROL MY BODY BECAUSE I’M SO EXCITED. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
I’ve been a fan of the series since I was in elementary school (which was when it came out). It was a series I remember loving sooo much. (More than Harry Potter.) I just love everything about it—the characters (even Count Olaf), the tragedy, the macabre elements, the mystery of VFD, EVERYTHING. I’m excited this amazing series be on my screen.
I hope Netflix does the series a justice, especially after the disappointment of the film adaptation, which was disjointed and horribly casted. Let’s cross our fingers that the roles of the actors/actresses will be ones of all our likings.
I just want more A Series of Unfortunate Events in everybody’s lives. (Particularly my own! ;D)
OMGOSH *jumps up and down with you*
If they do this perfectly I will die a happy book lover.
I never read the books, but I did see the movie. It really wasn’t my thing, but I know you should never judge a book by its movie.
I never read the books because it never took off around here, and the books were also pretty expensive. And then seeing there were like ten of them, and I never wanted to read them. But I’ve seen funny things of his writing on Tumblr, and he’s wonderfully sarcastic, and I’m actually really enthusiastic about this even though I’ve never read his books!
They’re actually super quick reads if you can find them at a library. Like, you can realistically devote a weekend to about 6 or 7 of them if you’re determined. They are so much fun (contradictory, I know), and I adored them! I want to do a re-read of them before Netflix finishes!
Wha-! That is most excellent news! I really enjoyed what I read of the series (I must confess that I’m only 8 books in, although it is a series that I just might pick back up now). So far, I’m impressed with Netflix originals, so I’m thinking we can expect good things :)
Completely and totally agree. Not even funny how exciting this is!!!
Yay! Although I haven’t read any of the books (I do own the last book lol) I’ve seen the movie and I thought it was so sad! I think I’ll read it someday because the series gives that spooky vibe.
