2017 LOVE-A-THON · Mix and Match!

February 18, 2017 Comments : 7

[note note_color=”#BFD1D1″ text_color=”#ffffff”]Hosted by Alexa of Alexa Loves Books, Cee of The Novel Hermit, Mel of The Daily Prophecy, & Kristin of Super Space Chick, Love-A-Thon is an event—a lovefest—that is dedicated to spreading positivity and love. It’s time dedicated to visiting other bloggers/Instagrammers/BookTubers, leaving a comment or two, making new friends and fostering positivity among the members of our amazing community.[/note]

We all love books, but there are other things we’re passionate about too! Mash-up a non-bookish hobby/passion/talent/fandom with your bookish life. Do it through photos, art, videos, etc. Get as creative as you’d like!

Like last year, I mixed the covers around, and made participants guess what books they are. This year, I’m doing the same! Book covers are the first thing you look at when you pick up a book. For this Mix and Match challenge, these six covers are the 2017 books I’m most excited about!

Try to guess the titles of these books.

Happy Galentine’s Day! 2017!

February 13, 2017 Leave a Comment

Knock, knock.

Who’s there?

Well, it’s one of the best day of the year!

[quote]It’s a day, coined by the amazing Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation, to celebrate all the awesome ladies and female friendships in the world! You don’t need Valentine’s Day! Galentine’s Day is all you need.[/quote]

Unfortunately, I was not able to put together a Galentine’s Day post where I honor all the awesome ladies I admire in comics or the female friendships in comics I adore. You can blame work for that because it’s kept me away from what would’ve been a beautiful Galentine’s Day post.

However, I will not fret over it.

I wish you all a happy Galentine’s Day—a far superior holiday thanks to the wonderful Leslie Knope. Hang out with your gal pals and have the best day of your life! I’m gonna hang with my favorite ladies—both IRL and comics—to celebrate this beautiful day.

(DNF) REVIEW • Fooled By Promise of Bounty Hunters (The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles)

February 8, 2017 Comments : 4

[note note_color=”#e1e0e5″ text_color=”#ffffff”]The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles • January 31, 2017 • Bloomsbury USA Childrens
Twitter | Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble | The Book Depository | Indigo | Library

It’s been a shattering year for seventeen-year-old Zoe, who’s still reeling from her father’s shockingly sudden death in a caving accident and her neighbors’ mysterious disappearance from their own home. Then on a terrifying sub-zero, blizzardy night in Montana, she and her brother are brutally attacked in a cabin in the woods–only to be rescued by a mysterious bounty hunter they call X.

X is no ordinary bounty hunter. He is from a hell called the Lowlands, sent to claim the soul of Zoe’s evil attacker and others like him. Forbidden to reveal himself to anyone other than his victims, X casts aside the Lowlands’ rules for Zoe. As X and Zoe learn more about their different worlds, they begin to question the past, their fate, and their future. But escaping the Lowlands and the ties that bind X might mean the ultimate sacrifice for both of them.[/note]

[note note_color=”#BFD1D1″ text_color=”#ffffff”]I received this book for free from Bloomsbury for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.[/note]

First sentence: “Zoe met X on a Sunday in February, when there was a storm on its way from Canada and the sky was so dark it looked like someone was closing a giant coffin lid over Montana.”

DNF-ed at Chapter 8

I should’ve known that anything that features a lot of snow will fill me up with boredom and lull me into a deep sleep. The Edge of Everything seemed promising—it had bounty hunters! I admit, I did not read this synopsis thoroughly. Any promise of bounty hunters, I’m immediately onboard, and boy, what a mistake to board this train towards the Lowlands.
