I love fonts. You can say I’m obsessed with collecting them all. It’s no secret to those who know me. You’re Just My Type is a new feature where I showcase the fonts I absolutely adore and use. And hopefully, you will love the fonts I pick. Add all of them to your font collection! Let it grow!

We have another batch of wonderful fonts! They all make me want to go to places (like a bar or a lighthouse). Very weird, but hey, I don’t question it.

Writing commentary for these are always a pain, but it needs to be done. I hope you appreciate it.

“All be back,” said the Governor. (I always think of former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.)

This is a great bold font. It was inspired by “the apartment signage of Miami Beach,” so if you’re around there, try to spot the signs that look similar to this font. (Font Spotting. It’s a new game I just made up. ;D It needs a new name though.)  You can use this on signs when you lose a dog, or just about anything to get your point across.

I bet you can’t look at Kabel without imagining the blue or red glow of the lights in front of a bar. I know I can’t.

This is my favorite font out of the this batch. I love the shape the letters make. There’s something semi-futuristic about it. It’s absolutely perfect if you’re aiming to create something bar or club-like. And if you want to create a poster about the future, well then, Kabel may be it for you.

Let’s Samba! Like actually. Let’s go dancing!

Apparently, this font was inspired by the Brazil World Cup! (Go figure! It totally wasn’t on purpose.) This will go perfectly if you’re making World Cup or Olympics stuff, especially if both events take place in Latin America. The letters remind me of when I cut letters from construction paper. It has that weird curvy, yet angular shape. Ha.

*insert fog horn sound*

Foglihten just reminds me of fog. How could it not from that name? There is something 1920-ish about this font to me. I think it’s the thinness and serif-ness of it. I’m half expecting it to suddenly come alive and fast talk to me like in those old movies.

Which font is your favorite?  Should I format these posts differently? If you missed previous font post, voila!

  1. Wow, I love Foglihten. It’s so pretty! But I’m a sucker for thin serifs.

Also, my uni publication used Scriptina for our yearbook once and I literally see it all sorts of places now! Font-Spotting is so much fun when you know unique typefaces!

  2. I’m loving the governor one!

  3. *here comes the long ass comment*

Lol, Font Spotting, you really can’t help but play that game once you’re really into fonts and then you can’t help but cringe once you see a font such as Comic Sans being used. But eeek, more Lost Type fonts! (Also how did I just find out the site got a revamp? Don’t judge me Cee, you know what has been distracting me :P) Governor really reminds me of a less rigid Baron Neue though the ‘R’s really give it a more rounded quality.

Oh man I didn’t even realise that about Kabe and the neon lightsl! The first thing I thought was space haha. But that is a really odd font, I don’t if I like it because of how weird it is or it just intrigues me. You sort of want to tilt your body when you scrutinise the letters because they’re in different directions.

Huh, that is true with the constructive paper-ness of Samba. It gives me that itch though to round out the edges :P But heyyy, look at you and your anecdotes ;D

No idea why but I’m really drawn to Foglihten. It has a sort of vintage feel to it and I think it would look amazing for typography graphics. That combination of serif and the thinness just speaks to me for some reason, this is such a weird feeling haha.

I really like Kabel. I think this font would look really good in a science fiction book like Across the Universe.

  5. I love the Samba one soooo much!! Cute cute!!

  6. Ooh I really like the first one and the last one! SO PRETTY :) God, fonts are awesome.

I LOVE Governor. I can’t really explain it but I just love it. Foglighten is beautiful as well. Such a nice serif font! I have trouble with serif fonts but that is definitely one I can get behind! :)
