This week’s topic is “top Firefly is a space western drama, set five hundred years in the future. It’s about a renegade crew aboard a small spacecraft, Serenity, who tries to survive as they travel the unknown parts of the galaxy and evade warring factions as well as authority agents out to get them. — Wikipedia SPACE WESTERN, GUYS. SPACEEEEE. AND BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIPS AND EVERYTHING AWESOME. Seriously, Firefly is fucking amazing. Nothing beats the friendship in Firefly. The characters in this are the definition of a found family, which is what I hold dear to my heart. Every time I look for books, I’m looking for the friendship I see in Firefly. (I have high expectations.) Remember this scene? “When you can’t run, you crawl, and when you can’t crawl, you find someone to carry you.” I WILL FOREVER WEEP AT THIS. (And yes, it is spoilery, so don’t click on the link for that.) Nobody gets left behind. Just, I’ll be here crying into my arm. This is a show that everybody must watch. I can go on and on about it, but it’ll most likely be incoherent dinosaur squealing noises. Psych is a detective comedy-drama television series about a novice sleuth, Shawn Spencer, who is hired by the police after he cons them into thinking he has psychic powers that help solve crimes. With this assistance of his reluctant best friend, Burton “Gus” Guster, the duo take on a series of complicated cases. — Wikipedia I’m so sad that Psych ended. Where am I gonna get my fill of Shawn and Gus bickering and being my BROTP? Where will I get Shawn being ridiculous and showy with his intensely awesome observational skills? Where will I see him butt heads with Carlton Lassiter or moon over Juliet O’Hara? Whereeeee? I really love this show. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an American action comedy television series,sSet in the fictional 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn. It follows a precinct team of detectives and a newly appointed captain. — Wikipedia Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an absolutely refreshing police comedy. Diverse cast. Race isn’t the butt of every joke. Lack of stereotypes. The team of detectives being awesome. Friendships. I fell instantly in love with every character — Jake Peralta, Captain Raymond Holt, Amy Santiago, Rosa Diaz, Terry Jeffords, Gina Linetti, and even Charles Boyle (sort of). There are sooo many gems in this show. I don’t even know what else to say. JUST GO WATCH IT. After her best friend is murdered and her father is removed as county sheriff, Veronica Mars dedicates her life to cracking the toughest mysteries in the affluent town of Neptune. — Wikipedia Ahhhh, Veronica Mars. I was obsessed with this show. Veronica Mars is fucking kickass. She’s snarky. She can one-up anybody in a clever bantering contest. She’s a private eye, and uses her skills to help unveil the shadiness within Neptune. She has a fucking great relationship with her father, Keith Mars. They’re just so cute. She has an amazing friendship with Wallace and Mac. (Remember that first scene when she cut Wallace down from the pole?) The cases she takes are always so fascinating. Snarky detectives are always a win in my book! When I grow up, I want to be just like Veronica Mars. Elementary follows Sherlock Holmes, a recovering drug addict and former consultant to Scotland Yard, as he assists the New York City Police Department in solving crimes. He is accompanied by Joan Watson who initially acts as his sober companion. They eventually begin to work together on his cases, and she becomes Holmes’ apprentice.— Wikipedia SUPERIOR SHERLOCK HOLMES. Although the cases are weak in Elementary, it’s the character development that keeps me coming back. The character development of Sherlock Holmes hits me in the heart because it’s so wonderful. You see him grow from being this difficult human being who did not care about the people around him to this person who values others and actually cares what they think. He is on an equal playing field with his counterpart, Joan Watson. He cares for her and encourages her to hone her sleuthing skills. I love that none of the characters — Watson, Detective Captain Gregson, and Marcus Bell — take his shit. They call him out on it. And it is amazing. And there’s amazing actors in this. Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu just kills it. Leverage follows a five-person team: a thief (Parker), a grifter (Sophie Devereaux), a hacker (Alec Hardison), and a retrieval specialist (Eliot Spencer), led by former insurance investigator Nathan Ford, who use their skills to fight corporate and governmental injustices inflicted on ordinary citizens. — Wikipedia As you already know, I love heists and found families. And when those two go hand in hand? Well, you can imagine me saying “fuck yes” while pumping my fist. You get the best of both worlds in Leverage and then some. You have these “criminals” relying on each other to play their parts in the heist. They come together to form this makeshift family that defines who they are. They are no longer stealing for themselves, but for the greater good of others who are in need. All the feeeeels! This Is England is a British drama miniseries, and it’s about a troubled boy growing up in England, set in 1980s. He comes across a few skinheads on his way home from school, after a fight. They become his new best friends even like family. — Wikipedia I love this series a lot. I’m so invested in all the characters. They are a family, and once you’re in, you’re in for life. They have your back no matter what. They go through some hardships that felt very real. The acting is incredibly top-notch. (Here’s looking at you, Joe Gilgun and Vicky McClure.) There are so many scenes that make you step back and go “fuck, they really love each other.” I can’t wait for the last series. Parks and Recreation is an ensemble comedy that follows Leslie Knope, a mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana, and her tireless efforts to make her quintessentially American town just a little bit more fun with the help of her friends and co-workers. — Wikipedia Parks and Recreation never fails to leave me smiling. I wish I had all these characters in my life because they would just make me smile constantly. You have: Positive Leslie Knope who is just the best role model you’d ever have in your life; Ann Perkins, Leslie’s best friend aka her beautiful tropical fish; Meat-lovin’ Ron Swanson with his glorious moustache, his gruff attitude, his hate for people, and secretly cares for his co-workers; Cynical April who is very deadpan, snarky, and looks up to Leslie; Goofy, but lovable Andy who is a bit dumb but totally earnest; Loud Tom Haverford, who tries to live the high life and wants to do what he loves; pop-culture savvy Donna Meagle who tells you to TREAT YO SELF; and plenty of more characters that I want to talk about, but this is already getting too long, sooooo…
