from panel to panel

I love comics and graphic novels, so what do I do with that love? Well, I turn it into a feature!

From Panel to Panel is a new feature where I talk about the awesome (and perhaps not-so awesome) comic books and graphic novels I’ve read. Basically, this will be me pushing them onto your laps. You’re welcome.

All throughout 2016, First Second is celebrating their tenth anniversary! Wheeeee.

For those who do not know what First Second is, it is an imprint under Macmillan that publishes graphic novels that ranges from fiction to visual essays. Have you heard of American Born Chinese by Gene Luen YangAnya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol, and This One Summer by Mariko and Jillian Tamaki? First Second published those!

I hope you take this opportunity to pick up their books! I have a lot of their books that I’m excited to read! They have a bunch of awesome graphic novels that people love. Here are two recommendation lists of First Second graphic novels—one of kids and one of young adults.

I’m more of a manga than a comic book reader so I can’t think of any recommendations for the same, But these look interesting especially the YA ones.
