I love fonts. You can say I’m obsessed with collecting them all. It’s no secret to those who know me. You’re Just My Type is a new feature where I showcase the fonts I absolutely adore and use. And hopefully, you will love the fonts I pick. Add all of them to your font collection! Let it grow!

Can you guess the reason why this cover is here?

Hilary T Smith - Wild Awake

You: Is this—
Me: Yup.
You: Are you really—
Me: Yes. IT’S HAPPENING. Similar and free alternatives to the Wild Awake title font! ALKSJFASJIUWDJSADS. Are you excited as I am?

Over the weekend, I decided that I really needed to do a font post where I search for similar looking fonts of book titles. Rachelia @ Bookish Comforts (and a few others) gave me some books and I picked Wild Awake because the title font is something that would be fairly easy for me to search for. Wild Awake utilizes a brush-esque font, so I hunkered down and scoured through font sites for similar looking brush script ones. And success, people!

If there are any covers with gorgeous title fonts you’d like to see me attempt to search for, tell me in this month’s Do Me A Favor. I am open to suggestions.

Serial Sue is the EXACT font that’s used in Wild Awake. THE EXACT ONE. JUST LOOK. When I found it, I proceeded to shriek in joy. Who knew my font sleuthing skills were legit? Not I! This surprise and excitement is the best feeling in the world. I will get my official font sleuth badge soon. I can feeeeeel it.

Serial Sue is such an odd name because it makes me think of serial killers. D: (Yes, because of the “serial” in it.) However, that’s not the feeling you get with this font. The brush strokes paint a totally different story.

(This font is only a trial, so only the alphabets work. You have to buy the premium one to get all the benefits of the font like numbers and symbols.)

Devonshire is a similar brush font to Serial Sue (from the way some of the letters are shaped), but it has a heavier weight to it and isn’t quite cursive. This reminds me of my handwriting whenever I wrote in a thick pen when I was in middle school. It somehow turns into that.

Look how nice and clean Olivier is! I love the roundness of letters and how it flows beautifully. No sense of hesitation in the way the letters is shaped. When I read words in this font, my eyes easily slide through it. It just works. I’m pretty sure I make no sense and I’m embarrassing myself for describing how much I adore this font weirdly, but y’know, fonts always leave me in awe.

Which font is your favorite? Do you like the original? What did you think of this post? Is this type of font post something you’d like to see more of?

  1. Well done *high fives*. I love it when I find fonts that are exactly what I’ve been looking for. I definitely prefer Olivier than Devonshire I like the wider width, but I don’t think you can really beat Serial Sue, definitely worth the purchase I think.

  2. I love the fact that you show all these amazing fonts. Being a new follower of yours, I was wondering what graphic program do you used to showcase your fonts.

  3. Great job! I think I like Devonshire just a tad more, because it’s more chunkier :D

  4. Bella says:

Great job! They are all so pretty, but I think my favorite would have to be Olivier.

  5. GO YOU! I agree with you, the name is a little bit odd but it is a very pretty font! Not the biggest fan of Devonshire since my inner perfectionist always gets a little antsy when I see fonts that seem disproportionate to me and it seems a bit squished. But love for Olivier! It feels like a very summery kind of font.

  6. Rachel says:

CEE YOU WONDERFUL GIRL YOU. No seriously, thank you so much for this! I adore the font for Wild Awake and can definitely see myself using in the future. I also downloaded Olivier because it’s a cute script font, but also clean. I wish I could hug you right now because are basically the greatest at finding fonts.

  7. LOVE IT! I am using that Olivier font immediately.

  8. Kelly L. says:

But seriously, again, why are you so pro?! To find the same exact used font for free is just….-stares at you admiringly-

  9. Kelly says:

Damn, you’re so good! I can’t believe you found the exact font used! *high fives*

Oliver is so pretty!! If I hadn’t just given PLR a facelift, I’d be tempted.

Who am I kidding? I’m still tempted! Haha

  10. Annie says:

Haha, you’re not embarrassing yourself, I totally get what you mean about Olivier as well! It’s so pretttttyyyyy. And congrats on finding the font for Wild Awake! I’ve always admired it so props to you to finding it!

  11. Cee, finding the exact font, #likeaboss!

You can’t beat Serial Sue, but Devonshire is beautiful too! I could take or leave Olivier, to be honest. (Unpopular opinion, whoa!)
