YOU’RE JUST MY TYPE | {5} — Georgie’s Picks!

February 25, 2014 Comments : 14

I love fonts. You can say I’m obsessed with collecting them all. It’s no secret to those who know me. You’re Just My Type is a new feature where I showcase the fonts I absolutely adore and use. And hopefully, you will love the fonts I pick.

The lovely Georgie at What She Reads (who is one of my favorite bloggers) sent me a list of fonts she absolutely adore. It made me incredibly excited to see all the fonts she wanted to share with me and with all of you. I’m pretty much in love with all the ones she sent! I hope you love them as well!

FLOWERS, GUYS! Yes, I am well aware that Floral looks like Fleur de Liane, but you can never have too many floral fonts! So let the flowers rain down on your head!

Floral makes me incredibly happy just by looking at it. I actually prefer it more than Fleur de Liane because the letters are much darker and defined. It’s just soo whimsical. I love it.

Ferrica is Georgie’s favorite out of all the fonts she sent me!

I absolutely adore Ferrica because 1. the name just rolls off my tongue and 2. the little curls at the edge of each characters like it’s a serif. For some reason, the curls remind me think of those metal fences with the intricate design on it.

Signarita Zhai makes me think of feather pens. I remember trying to fashion one out of the party feathers, but it obviously didn’t work at all. It always disappointed me because I wanted to scrawl out something like this. It just looks so effortless and pretty.

Look at that beautiful ‘S.’ It looks exactly like a treble clef. Don’t be surprise if you hear a symphony or an orchestra playing behind you when you start using this font. ;D

I think I have a problem because Before the Rain made me think of Hilary Duff’s “Come Clean” song and now it’s stuck in my head. (It’s the rain part.)

I love the way the letters extends outward and that it looks like it’s wrapping itself with each other. Look at the “th” next to each other. Doesn’t it look like it’s cocooning itself? I think Before the Rain will be perfect with a basic a font to balance it all out because it does get a bit overwhelming. We can’t have that!

What do you think of the fonts that Georgie chose? Which one is your favorite?

I love all these fonts (and Georgie too! haha). I love Floral and definitely agree, there’s no such thing as too many flower fonts. They just brighten your day! Ferrica is STUNNING. I would use it for everything and anything. *grabby hands* Signarita Zhai and Before the Rain are very, very elegant. I would definitely use them if I need to flaunt my authority! :D

These are absolutely gorgeous! I especially love Signarita Zhai and Ferrica. Though Before the Rain would totally be cute in a graphic where it was only for one word or something. I love when people do things like that. I’m trying to learn how to properly do that, but. . .yeah, it’s still a work in progress.

The mention of Hilary Duff makes me very happy haha. I’m so in love with Floral! I love how it’s much more bolder.

Woah at Signarita Zhai! That swish at the beginning of the m .___.

This is the most fantastic feature! Who doesn’t love fonts?? I just downloaded the floral one and I can’t wait to find somewhere to use it!

Hmm…I don’t know how I feel about Floral. Yes, it’s what I’d hoped Fleurs de Liane would be liked (bolder, more defined), but I’ve just compared the two and…well, I’m not sure if it’s a case of plagiarism? Comparing the letters, the design is exactly the same: the petals are in the same place, the ‘vines’ curve in exactly the same way. :/ The only difference is the weight…

Signarita Zhai is beautiful, though! I’ve always wished to be able to write like that. :(

Hmmm. That is an excellent point. I was blinded by fonts that I failed to see that maybe this is a case of plagiarism. Floral was made in 2003, but I have no idea when Fleurs de Liane was made since the person didn’t list it on their website. :\ (Also, their site burns my eyes. GAHHHH. It takes me back to early 2000s. ;D) But a font site says it was made in 1999? IDK. This is all worrisome.

I already have Before the Rain, but I think I’m going to add Signarita Zhai Ferrica to my collection (which has grown significantly since you started this feature.)

Omg you find the COOLEST fonts ever! I really like all of them, and I’d love to see those fonts get used in book covers. Floral looks super fancy, but it doesn’t look really good if it’s overused like if someone used that font for their entire post or something. Before the Rain would look really good for a signature.

Oh dear Floral really does look like an exact of Fleur de Liane but thicker. Maybe the two designers worked together? Who knows, definitely a little sad if it is a case of plagiarism.

I’m so happy you shared my fonts and you’ve put them to my favourite books :D (if you intended to or not). You’re so lovely!! <3

      Totally intentional! :DDD

Next time when you supply me with fonts, I’m forcing you to write up the commentary because I would love to hear why you love the font and what it reminds you of. <3

Oh wow, Ferrica is pretty! I love the curls and loops. And YES, Signarita Zhai is totally old timey. I wish I could write like that!

Floral is so pretty! And Before the Rain looks like Aladdin.

I don’t know that I’ve said this explicitly, but I’m such a lurker of this feature – I love it!
