Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews where you share books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!  I bought a lot of books at an annual book sale. SCOOORREEEEE. Young Adult books were $1 each. SO GOOD. I wish I had more time to search for more books. I’m quite disappointed that I didn’t get the fourth book of A Series of Unfortunate Events (because I would’ve had #1-8, but nope!) and the third book of the Millennium Trilogy; I couldn’t find it anywhere.

bought1

A Series of Unfortunate Events #1-3, 5, 11, 13 by Lemony Snicket
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway
A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle #1) by Libba Bray
Going Bovine by Libba Bray
I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have To Kill You (Gallagher Girls #1) by Ally Carter
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Millennium #1) by Stieg Larsson
The Girl Who Played with Fire (Millennium #2) by Stieg Larsson

I’m still deciding whether I should go on Sunday because every book that’s left over is $1, but I realize my book event is actually on that day and obviously – seeing Marissa Meyer > $1 book sale. (I could always go early, but I don’t want to wake up early. :P)

How was your week? What books did you pick up? Have you read any of the books I got in the mail?

It’s been a month since my last STS, but here I am. These books had me bouncing all over my room! So much awesomeness!

Throne of Glass (signed) by Sarah J. Maas
Crown of Midnight (signed) by Sarah J. Maas
Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard (signed by Sarah J. Maas)
[I actually have showcased these books earlier, but that was in my August roundup. I had yet to show them off in Stacking the Shelves, so voila!]

Vicious (signed ARC) by VE Schwab (from Jenna Does Books)
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
More Than This (ARC) by Patrick Ness
A Darkness Strange and Lovely by Susan Dennard (from Tar Heel Bibliobabe)

Extremely excited to start all of them! I’ve already read the first chapters of ViciousAttachments, and More Than This, and I am already in love. (I should really stop reading multiple books at once. ;D)

You can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!  So many wonderful things happened in the past day (got to see No Man’s Land, received Ian McKellen’s autograph, and got a new laptop – a hand-me-down from my sister but in excellent condition). A post about that later, hopefully.

 AND

Friday night, I went to see Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Billy Crudup in No Man’s Land. It was very British, but nonetheless, brilliant. All the actors did a phenomenal job in their roles. ANDDD I got Ian McKellen’s autograph.

(It’s a bit smudged, but readable.)

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

You do not know how excited I was when the mailman left books on my doorstep. I feel like I had been waiting for them forever! Absolutely a book heaven-type week for me! AND my BFF came home for two weeks from Japan, giving me the best gifts EVER.

GIFTED

  • Neko Darake by Yokoyama Kimuchi (THE BEST GIFT EVERRRRR from my BFF. CAT BUTTS.)

WON

Really excited for these books. I’ve heard excellent things about all the books (minus the ARCS ’cause those aren’t out yet). As soon as I finish typing up a review for Just Like Fate and finish reading another book, I will get started on Throne of Glass ’cause I plan on seeing Sarah J. Maas at the end of the month.

If you have missed my previous posts, check them out:

  • Tuesday | Here is my Top Ten on “the best book-to-movie adaptations,” which includes Matilda, Atonement, Persuasion.
  • Wednesday | I “wait on” The 100 by Kass Morgan. It reminds me of Battlestar Galactica (with a smidge of Lord of Flies) because of the living in spaceship thing, Earth being inhabitable, and kids basically stranded. And someone told me that a TV will be made? Wow.
  • Friday| I’m giving away my ARC of Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins (It’s the second book of the Sweet Trilogy). I realized that I was never going to read it, so why don’t I give it away to somebody who will?

AND

I apologize for not having a review up this week. I was planning to type it up, but I accidentally knocked my laptop onto the floor Wednesday night, so my laptop is no longer functioning. :My writing (and graphics for this blog) hadn’t been backed up for the past month. That set me back, but no worries. I took it to the Apple Store to get it checked, and somehow, my laptop began to work. Barely. I managed to backup my resume/cover letters, but none of my other writing because my laptop suddenly froze. Fast forward to 4+ hours, I backed up all the essentials (writing + graphics), so I don’t have an excuse anymore! It was a pretty stressful couple of days. I won’t be getting my laptop fixed ’cause of the cost. In the mean time, I’m lucky my uncle gifted my family with an awesome desktop computer. Hopefully, I will make up my lack of reviews with more posts this coming week.
