This is the moment we’ve been waiting for—the semi-finals round!
Although the turnout for the nominations round wasn’t as big as last year’s, I’m grateful to everybody who nominated book covers. You are wonderful, and you are the people that keep this cover awards going. <3
I keep forgetting how tedious it is to tally up the votes (very widespread nomination), put the images together, and create the polls. Lots of copying and pasting and cursing Illustrator for being slow. It should get easier from here…I hope.
What you find in this post are: 15 beautiful covers (that you nominated) for each category + polls.
This is a lonnnnnnnng post, so beware of scrolling. ;D (Seriously.)
And once again, we begin. Vote! And then get your friends to vote!
What You Need To Know
- This is the semi-finals. (This will determine the eight books that will make it to the final voting.)
- These covers are all reader nominated.
- Vote for the cover you believe should win each category because it’s superior and prettier than the others and fits.
- Judge base on the covers. Not what’s in the book.
- You’re only allowed to vote for up to THREE covers once. (You can vote for one cover or two or three.)
- DO NOT CHEAT. I will be checking the spreadsheet for suspicious activity.
- If you click on the pictures, it will pop up a bigger image. If you want a bigger picture, click on the links in the Google Docs poll.
- When you click on the category links below, it’ll take you directly to that category.
- If you have questions or need clarifications, feel free to ask them and I will answer. :)
- Voting ends Monday, November 28, 2016 11:59 PM PST.
- Last but not least, have fun! Share this with friends and force them to vote!

Not gonna lie, your Cover Choice Awards is one of the thing I most look forward to in the book community. You know how much of a font snob and cover snob I am, so i love seeing my faves triumph and my least faves fail, MWHAHAHA. I can’t even imagine how much work you put into this, so thank you, Cee, for being so amazing and giving us this opportunity to judge books by their covers <3 I really hope that A Tangle of Gold wins something because that cover is a fave, as well as If I Was Your Girl because a trans model on the cover of a trans book is so important and amazing.

Confused about the Biggest Let Down category lol coz they’re all so prettyyyyy but OMG such a hard choice. I do admit I was a bit biased because where I’d read the book I considered the book too. SORRY NOT SORRY. ALL THE PRETTY COVERS.
Lauren @ Bookmark Lit says
eeek covers are my favorite thing! I wish I didn’t miss the nomination period. My favorite overall cover is THIS ADVENTURE ENDS. Soooo gorgeous!
Cassidy @ Quartzfeather says
There was so much fantastic competition with the interior and spine/exterior designs! I must have spent like half an hour deciding who to vote for on both!
Chantal says
This is such an amazing idea!! I love it :) And really good choices for covers I think. I feel like this year has been a really good for YA covers in general. So many pretty ones!
KM says
I’ve never participated in this before! It was so interesting to see all the different covers.
Jess @ POB! says
Ah, I’m so excited to find out the winners! This was really hard because I actually have some of these in physical format and I know that they look so much better in person than on screen. Like Rebel of the Sands has this amazing metallic lettering and it’s so beautiful!
Kristia says
I was so disappointed when I’ve read your blog entry late and I didn’t have time to nominate for the most beautiful ya cover but now that I see the nominations I’m glad to see that most of my favorites are here :) Nominated in the semifinal rounds and now I’m waiting for the results!
Nicole @ booksinked says
So hard to pick just one, so I picked three! A lot of beautiful covers here! :)
Rebecca @ Reading Wishes says
Thanks for hosting, voting was fun!
FYI: P.S. I Like You isn’t showing up for best spine/design and I thought you’d like to know

And now that I’ve finished voting…I hope Exit, Pursued by a Bear gets through – I haven’t read the book yet (I want to!), but if seems to capture the story so well and what the character is going through. How she’s midway in the air, cast in shadows, it’s so powerful yet simple. So much love for it and I hope I’m not the only one who agrees! The Love That Split the World is one of my faves, too!
