The YA Book Cover Choice Awards (aka YABCCAwards) aim to honor all the wonderful (and not-so wonderful) book covers that were published in the past year. It will be nominated and voted by readers (à la Goodreads Choice Awards and the *Book Shimmy* Awards) for the best cover design in each categories.

I didn’t think I would be able to pull this together (with a recent change that has been occupying my time), but here it is!

I keep forgetting how tedious it is to tally up the votes (very widespread nomination), put the images together, and create the polls. Lots of copying and pasting and cursing Illustrator for being slow. It should get easier from here…I hope.

What you find in this post are: 15 beautiful covers (that you nominated) for each category + polls.

And once again, we begin. Vote! And then get your friends to vote!

What You Need To Know

  • This is the finals!
  • These covers are all reader nominated.
  • Vote for the cover you believe should win each category because it’s superior and prettier than the others and fits.
  • Judge base on the covers. Not what’s in the book.
  • You’re only allowed to vote for ONE cover.
  • DO NOT CHEAT. I will be checking the spreadsheet for suspicious activity.
  • If you click on the pictures, it will pop up a bigger image. If you want a bigger picture, click on the links in the Google Docs poll.
  • When you click on the category links below, it’ll take you directly to that category.
  • If you have questions or need clarifications, feel free to ask them and I will answer. :)
  • Voting ends Saturday, December 10, 2016 12 PM PST.
  • Last but not least, have fun! Share this with friends and force them to vote!

This is such a cool event! I wish I had known about it before! I love getting to see all of these cool books and I love the idea of literally judging a book by its cover lol.

This is such a wonderful idea! I judge a book by its cover and this was awesome to put all that judging to use! It also makes my TBR list that much longer now ;) Love love love this idea!!

  8. Finally voted, Cee!!

There are a few categories where I really thought hard about which one to vote for because I liked more than one! I’m rooting for Crooked Kingdom, Gemina, and A Million Worlds with You.

  9. 2016 has been a great year for covers! Some of the best I’ve ever seen :D
    I hope my picks win!!

  10. Michella says:

I love doing this every year! Book design is so exciting; it makes the story come alive. Picking between The Firebird Trilogy and The Winner’s Trilogy was so tough!! But The Dark Days Club was a no brainer. The design for that book floors me.
