FROM PANEL TO PANEL • February 2018 Graphic Novel Releases To Look Out For

February 26, 2018 Comment : 1

from panel to panel

I love comics and graphic novels, so what do I do with that love? Well, I turn it into a new feature!

From Panel to Panel is a new feature where I talk about the awesome (and perhaps not-so awesome) comic books and graphic novels I’ve read. Basically, this will be me pushing them onto your laps. You’re welcome.

Badass and ultra cute. That’s the February graphic novels. You will get cute stage boys fighting monsters backstage, whodunit graphic novel adaptation in Clue, Dungeons and Dragons inspired fantasy, awesome magical girls, team-ups, and many more. This month, you need to put these on your TBR list.

Get your shopping carts loaded with all these comics!

FEBRUARY 2018

  • The Backstagers • Vol. 2: The Show Must Go On

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

For these boys, magic happens behind the stage, and that is exactly what you’ll find in The Backstagers. There’s monsters and supernatural cuteness and just boys being so goddamn cute with their friendship and crushes. I can’t wait to see what type of adventure volume 2 gives us.

  • Clue

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Clue! In graphic novel form! Everybody’s favorite murder mystery has been adapted! How does this portray the events?

  • Star Wars: Doctor Aphra • Vol. 2: Doctor Aphra and the Enormous Profit

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

This girl. Definitely one of my favorite new characters in the entire Star Wars universe. I guess I have to thank Kieron Gillen for that. She and her archaeological and thieving problems…I love it all. I love watching her get out of trouble.

  • Scales & Scoundrels • Vol. 1: Into the Dragon’s Maw

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Somebody called this a “Dungeons and Dragons come to life” comic, and I am all for that! What more can you want from a comic that is like DnD, has a treasure hunter, dragons, and a found family(!!!!!!!)?

  • Lumberjanes • Vol. 8

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

More Lumberjanes is always good in my book because friendships! Adventure! Ladies kicking butt!!

  • Zodiac Starforce • Vol. 2: Cries of the Fire Prince

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

These demon-fighing magical girls are back at it again! And there’s even more of them! Kind of like another version of them but from the UK. And there’s a larger demon invasion. I don’t know about you, but I love these magical girls so I can’t wait to see how they band together and fight the evil. (Okay, so this comic may not come out until June/July??? The publication dates I’ve seen for this was in February for LCBS.)

  • All-New Wolverine • Vol. 5: Orphans of X

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Even more Wolverine? God, yes. Especially since I can never get enough of Laura Kinney and her awesomeness.

  • Capture Creatures

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

This might be the cutest things I’ve ever seen in 2018!! This sounds very much like Pokemon with the “capture all the 100 creatures on Earth” and kids going out into the world to find answers of these out-of-these-world creatures. I personally don’t know how these kids will do without squealing at the adorableness.

  • Invincible Iron Man: Ironheart • Vol. 1: Riri Williams

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

This is the Iron Man I want. (No offense, Tony Stark.) A smart black teenage girl changing the world! Super inspiring. I hope she gets to interact with Tony Stark and beat him with her own skills.

  • Robin: Year One • The Deluxe Edition

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Year One is probably full of my favorite Robin stories of all time. It’s filled with the classic coming-of-age story and Grayson sass. This deluxe edition will have behind the scenes sketches and designs! I neeed this!

  • Teen Titans (Rebirth) • Vol. 2: The Rise of Aqualad

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

Who would’ve thought Damian Wayne leading the Teen Titans would be a good idea? This team has such an interesting dynamic because it’s not Dick Grayson who’s leading them, it’s Damian fucking Wayne, the Robin who you’d least think of as a good leader. I love it.

  • The Unstoppable Wasp • Vol. 2: Agents of G.I.R.L.

Buy: LCBS · Amazon · Barnes & Noble · The Book Depository · Indigo · Comixology

G.I.R.L. fighting the Red Room? Original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne, helping this Wasp out? What a wonderful team.

CHECK OUT: Going Rogue (Wires and Nerve #2), Is This Guy For Real? The Unbelievable Andy Kaufman, The Prince and the Dressmaker

SPECIAL MENTIONS: Avengers & Champions TP Worlds Collide, Bingo Love, My Boyfriend Is A Bear, Kim Reaper Vol. 1: Grim Beginnings, Lazarus X Plus 66, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Vol. 7 Been Waiting For Squirrel

Do any of these comics interest you? Tell me which ones you’re excited about! Have you read any of these?
